WORK WITH LEAH
WRITING
Leah is always open to talk about potential film and television writing, staffing, and consulting projects. She currently has an original TV show in development, developed a solo show play and had a new pilot go up in a social justice comedy festival sponsored by Comedy Central in NYC last year, and is currently working on two novel manuscripts.
EDUCATION
Leah has been working in various forms of education since 2013 when she worked as an undergraduate peer mentor in business career counseling. Over the years, she’s taught creative and comedy writing in alternative education, screenwriting at Northwestern, out-of-school time programming across all subjects grades 1-12, and ELA, mixed media arts, reading, and career readiness in both the juvenile justice space and community in LA, Boston, and Cambridge. She is available for trainings, consulting, workshops, and curricula development.
SOCIAL WORK
Leah has a master’s degree in clinical social work and is taking the LCSW exam in the coming weeks. Through her original programming, Amalgamate Arts, she offers evidence-based, healing-centered, creative expression workshops informed by narrative therapy, expressive arts therapy, TF-CBT, DBT, psychoeducation, and emotional literacy.
My name’s Leah Bognanni (she, her) and I’m a television and film screenwriter, playwright, author, educator, artist, and social worker. I was born in South Korea, adopted, and raised by Italian Americans near Boston. I have a television show in development with Elevate Entertainment, was a television writing fellow in Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Productions program, have a master’s degree in Screenwriting & Playwriting from Northwestern University, and another in Clinical Social Work with a focus on mental health from Boston College. I have also created original programming through Amalgamate Arts, which focuses on trauma-informed, evidence-based, healing-centered, psychoeducation and creative expression.
